Happy National Pizza Day!

Apparently, February 9th is National Pizza Day. Google isn’t sure why, but we don’t care. We will take any excuse to eat more pizza. Thursday is usually our weekly pizza night, so we shifted it a day. No complaints here.

To make this a worthwhile post, here is a list of our top five spots to get pizza in New Orleans. In no particular order…

Barracuda Tacos (New Orleans, Louisiana)

Why is that place always so busy? Sure, the location is great. The name is fun. But who would wait in such a long line for tacos? In Los Angeles, I get it, but New Orleans? Maybe the lack of great tacos has made this place royalty. We always wanted to try Barracuda Tacos but refused to wait in that line. Fortunately, they opened another location on our side of the river! So, naturally, we ate almost everything there.

Yelping is Helping (Yelp Year in Review – 2021)

Yelp! It is a platform that we’ve used for years, but have never really talked about on the blog. Why? It has always been a bit taboo, I suppose. Yelp doesn’t like their users doubling up their reviews. They see it as a conflict of interest. They have some control issues. As a result, we’ve always said no to their annual invites to be Yelp Elite. We play it safe by avoiding be too far in Yelp. Still, we love to use it for the following reason.

Impossible Burger, but Taco Tuesday!

There isn’t too much to be said here. Ground meat, or ground fake meat in this case, is one of the most versatile ingredients in the kitchen. In the UK, they call it mince and it is the base for so many delicious recipes. It seems counter-productive to make mince out of already formed patties, but it works! It is far from Impossible!

Mike’s Mighty Good Craft Ramen (Food Review)

On a recent trip to the grocery, Fit noticed this product on the shelf and told me that she’d love to see me “tear it apart” on our YouTube channel. I don’t know why she was so skeptical of the product. Sure, we’d never heard of it or seen it before, but why not give it a fair chance? Unfortunately, due to my ravenous appetite, one day, I just ate them on the spot. By them, I mean one Beef Flavor Ramen Soup and one Chicken Flavor Ramen Soup. I was too lazy to setup my camera and I’m glad I didn’t because it became a bit more complex than anticipated. Mike’s Mighty Good Craft Ramen. Was it worth it? Yes and no.

This is chicken, thumbnail is beef

Meal Kits Are Flourishing Again and You Heard It Here First

The pandemic has ushered in a lot of changes in a very short time. For many of us, social distancing, wearing face masks, and limiting exposure to groups of other people remain the norm. Many businesses are still mandating that employees work from home, and numerous schools are still using a distance-learning model.

Another change that’s happened, this one more positive than most, is that meal kits are flourishing once more. You heard about them first here on Hungry and Fit, and they’ve surged in popularity. That makes sense given the risks involved with simply going to the grocery store these days.

Where does the meal kit industry stand currently and what should you know? We’ll discuss all that below.

Tavolino’s is Open!

No need to add any fluff to this one; we’re getting right to the point. Tavolino’s, one of our favorite spots in New Orleans, is open for take-out. They re-opened yesterday and we were there to greet them. Alana has been craving their goods for quite some time and I don’t think anyone can blame her. They make some of the best pizza in the city, their drink selection is one-of-a-kind, and the atmosphere is hard to match. They have a few socially distanced tables available out front, but take-out was the most popular option, according to our observations last night.
