Tight Hamstrings? Try This

I would think it’s fairly accurate to say that many people struggle with tight hamstrings (those are the muscles on the rear side of your leg near the top). There’s a well-known secret that I can’t even touch my toes! Sure, we can blame it on genetics (that’s what I like to do) and that may indeed be part of the problem, but the other part is lack of stretching. Can you remember the last time you stretched? If so, great! Was it a good enough time devoted to stretching each part of your body? Probably not, unless you took a yoga class not based on strength.

People, if they don’t ignore stretching completely, will only stretch for a short period of time. Maybe a quick swing of the arms or a grasp towards the toes. People think it’s a waste of time and that if they’re working out, they should focus on calorie-burning or strength-building, none of this stretching nonsense. Well, guess what–it’s absolutely not a waste of time. Stretching, becoming limber, and flexible will help you in any sport, any exercise, any movement. Also, stretching shouldn’t be easy (you’ll see Hungry’s pained face below). Let’s start off with a deep hamstring stretch–all you need is a wall:

2016’s Best Pre-Workout

You might remember 2015’s Best Protein Powder and 2015’s Best Dog Food. Reviews.com has published a new study where they tested 309 different pre-workout supplements to find the best product on the market. We’ll give you the very abridged version and let you read the article here for yourself. Essentially, they used a filtration system to narrow down the big number through process of elimination. They would remove anything with banned/potentially harmful substances, then proprietary blends, then a certain amount of caffeine, then any artificial flavors/colors to figure out the cleanest product.

The Top 10 Workout Songs for July 2016

Please enjoy a post from our friends at Run Hundred.

The artists behind this month’s top workout tunes could easily pass for the lineup of a great, summer music festival. Kicking off the day, you’d find upstarts like Shawn Mendes and crossover favorites like Tegan & Sara. Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood could headline the country stage. Meanwhile, club acts like Sigala and The Chainsmokers supply beats in the dance tent.

Other noteworthy tracks this month include a Coldplay remix from Seeb (who turned Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” into an unlikely hit). Adele makes an appearance with any unusually jaunty cut from her most recent album. Finally, Elle King turns up with a track from the Ghostbusters reboot. If any of these options strikes your fancy, here’s the full top 10 list—according to the votes logged on workout music site Run Hundred.

Lead the Whey

Your trainer told you to take protein because it’s going to help you grow big and strong, right? They told you it will help your muscles grow and repair after the tough workouts that they drag you through a few times a week, right? While I’m not telling you to (or to not) listen to your ‘trainer,’ it’s almost inevitable that you’re going to try to find a way to add more protein to your diet. As Instagram and social media gets more popular, the fitness (and supplement) industries grow at a rapid rate. For many, this change in lifestyle can be challenging and for others, the maintenance of this way of living can be equally or more challenging.

Optimum Nutrition Protein Water

Back in January, we (probably) introduced you to Trusource and had some happy giveaway winners. [Do you want more giveaways?!] If you remember, we were blown away by their protein water product. Fast forward a few months and we find out that Optimum Nutrition (arguably our favorite supplement company) has their own protein water. What do we have to do? Obviously, we had to try it and let me just say that we were NOT disappointed. In fact, we even fought over it!

Cures For a Few Sleep Problems

If there’s one problem in America, it’s a serious sleep problem! How many people have you talked to just in one day that complain about a bad night’s sleep or complain that they’re tired? I feel like it’s rampant, especially in Los Angeles and other big cities. It can be little things to a busy mind that won’t quit or big things like insomnia. Any little or big thing can seriously detract from your sleep which then detracts from your life in its entirety! Lack of sleep can cause irritability which can cause stress in your relationships which can cause major unhappiness. Lack of sleep can be a root problem of many other seemingly larger problems. I’m sharing this graphic on behalf of Casper, an online company that sells a new latex foam mattress, to give you some simple cures to frustrating sleep problems.

My Obsession with Efficiency

I’m not sure if this has to do with my generation (probably does), the environment I live in, or just who I am, but I have the unfortunate obsession with being efficient. This makes me sound like I’m humbly bragging. It’s not necessarily a good thing–it’s really more of a curse. It doesn’t mean I’m more productive in any sense, not really. I think it has a huge correlation to being constantly connected whether that’s by phone, social media, or computer. We need to frequently refresh our social media to see if anything new has happened. We are glued to the news and anything “breaking” we can break away from. This has a big impact on needing to always be doing something.

A Fresh Way to Keep the Body Clean and Healthy

Do you think your health is connected to your drinking water? I’m guessing that you probably do since humans require a lot of water. Not all cities have access to clean water, even (or especially) big metropolitan cities. So even if you’re living in a hip town, the water coming from your very own tap could be poisoning you. There have been a lot of products to try to combat this, but not all of them work. However, there’s a new player in town backed by science and a mission. This product doesn’t focus on your waistline; it focuses on something all cleanses are supposed to do. What’s that, you say? Water Liberty developed a product called Adya Clarity that rids you of toxins and metals from your body. How? By purifying your water! We now have the power to harness clean, healthy water!
