A True Lifestyle Supplement: ON Amino Energy

The supplement industry can be a huge, intimidating monster for many. Think along the lines of that dark and scary maze at the end of the Triwizard tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Yes, it can be that bad for millions of people who are overwhelmed by the flashy labels, crazy names, and exhaustive ingredient lists of thousands of brands. Thousands of powders, hundreds of flavors, and yet, they only aim to accomplish a few things. Mostly, they help you get ready for your workout, assist you in getting through your workout, or benefit you in recovering after your workout. Some companies like to put them in separate products that you buy and combine while some combine them into one proprietary blend for you, but what if you’re perfectly content working out without supplements?

Optimum Nutrition has been the gold standard (no pun intended) in the supplement industry for a long time. They’ve continued to provide top-tier options for both pre-workouts and post-workouts. Their whey and casein protein products, Opti-Men Multi-Vitamin, and Creatine have become staples for the average joe, but they’ve recently struck gold with a new(er) product, ON Amino Energy. Kris Gethin, a popular fitness icon, recently had not-so-stellar things to say about it, but Kris is a hardcore guy in the gym, and this product is not and should not be used for that kind of person and purpose. It is not Optimum Nutrition’s pre-workout and therefore, like ON’s Platinum Pre-Workout, but it is something unique.

It is not Optimum Nutrition’s pre-workout and that is reflected in the ingredients. Although it shares common ingredients as a pre-workout supplement, it has lower amounts because that is not its sole purpose. If you’ve been working out for a long time, you’ve tried at some point to use your pre-workout before a work shift to get through the day. You’re paranoid because you’re not supposed to take more than one scoop in a day and that is where ON Amino Energy comes into play. It’s the best of both worlds in that it can get your day going or be used as a pick-me-up instead of spending four dollars on an expensive drink at Starbucks.

It gives you short-term and long-lasting energy without burning a hole in your pocket or filling your body with unnecessary and unwanted calories. It’s also made with coffee so it has that flavor. I’m not a coffee connoisseur or even a dabbler, so I can’t speak to the caliber of coffee flavor, but since everyone is so picky with coffee nowadays that you’ll just have to try it yourself. The bottom line is you should not be using this to replace a pre-workout supplement, but you can definitely add this to your morning or mid-day routine to get you through the day without being overcharged for some fancy drink that will do a worse job. Now I just want it in more flavors because diversity helps you stay hungry and fit!
