Did you know that the average American has 96 bad hair days each year?

Caring for your hair can be a cumbersome task, especially when genetics aren’t benefiting you. Sometimes, drying hair on a sunny day is a tiresome challenge. If you aren’t careful, you’ll end up making it worse.

Don’t lose hope yet.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to dry your hair the right way. Read on and learn the best methods for your situation:

Air Drying

This method of hair drying can help avoid heat damage caused by blow dryers. If you’re looking for the healthiest way to dry hair, this is your best bet. But the time needed to dry your hair out can present potential setbacks.

Wet hair gets swollen, which puts more stress on the proteins necessary to keep your hair intact. It results in breakage, which is a big no-no for most people. Air-drying can also make you rub your hair using a towel, an abrasive force that breaks your hair.

To keep your hair free from frizz and tangling is to comb it while in the shower. Don’t brush your hair after that since it causes the strands to stretch. Your hair is at its most delicate when wet, so don’t apply too much force to it.

Also, avoid going outside while your hair isn’t dry during the cold winter months. Freezing your hair makes it break. That’s why a completely dry hair is a must when it’s cold outside.

Blow Drying

This is the best way to dry hair when you’re in a rush. But heat-blasting your hair isn’t ideal if you intend to keep your voluminous locks. Blow drying your hair means never using the high heat settings since it results in a “flash drying” effect.

This effect will get rid of both surface moisture and hair-bound water. To avoid it, don’t roast your hair with high heat. Instead, take gradual steps to dry it while keeping the hairdryer 6” away from your scalp.

Move the blow dryer constantly since directing heat on one spot dries that spot the most. A diffuser attachment tool can also spread out the air stream. This will balance and distribute the heat through your hair, making it more manageable.

Take note, it’s inevitable for your hair to get heat damage from blow-drying. To minimize it, use a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair moisturized. You can also get a heat protector spray to prevent water from evaporating from your hair.
