How to Stay Positive When Things Don’t Go Your Way

How do you manage to stay positive no matter what life throws your way? Does anyone have a surefire way of doing this? I can’t say that we do, but wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a way to always turn your day around? (Stay positive.)

Blogging has been challenging lately because my keyboard is malfunctioning. It is a very expensive Macbook and the problem is in the most recent operating system update. Letters, words and even sentences will randomly be inserted into my typing. Plugging in a USB keyboard won’t work. Apple Support offered a solution that didn’t work at all. It takes me 75 minutes to complete 60 minutes of type work, whether that includes emails for work, writing articles or completing school assignments. For someone who is all about efficiency, this is terrible! (Stay positive.)

That same system update caused my Macbook’s camera to stop working. I use that camera for recording many of our vlogs and Q&A sessions on YouTube. It makes it very quick to turnaround a question from a fan or follower. It takes much longer to film on the Nikon or GoPro, with an additional mic. Yet another inefficiency as a result of Apple’s inability, cheapness and laziness. Doesn’t it grind your gears when you pay a lot or something that doesn’t work? (Stay positive.)

Also, as some of you might have seen on our social media, a delivery driver hit our home recently. I wanted to build a fence to secure our yard for the dogs and a possible addition of chickens. That backfired, as our actual house is less secure. We’ve had nonstop, pouring rain for the past six hours or so. My taped up tarps have seemed to work, but the past 48 hours have been spent on the phone with insurance companies and other people I’d rather not be speaking with right now. (Stay positive.)

To add more fuel to the fire, not just one, but two of our cars aren’t running. Our newer car is having thermostat/cooling issues. The original dealer in Los Angeles isn’t very helpful. The honest local mechanics feel as though the job is too challenging and the local expert for that maker is asking for nearly $500 to replace a battery. (Even though we approached him to fix the temperature problem, which he quoted at $1,600. The dealer said it should cost about $400.) Our older car isn’t starting. It is probably a battery issue, even though we bought a brand new one three years ago. The alternator is probably also problematic, but with the pouring rain and the car being outside, it is hard for me to test it.) (Stay positive.)

I’ve had to cancel clients and lose work as a result of the house and car issues. We’re contemplating renting a car, but that is a challenge because of Mardi Gras. Throw all of my injuries into the mix, issues with my master’s program, drama from last year’s work fiascos and life sure seems to be bearing down on me, right? Wrong! I lied before, I do have a way of always turning my day around and that is through sheer force of will and positive thinking. Well, you might not call it positive thinking. Thinking about the negatives in other people’s lives can really help keep you grounded. I’m alive, with a beautiful home and family of seven. They might be beaten up, but all of my limbs work well enough. Others can’t say the same. I might get heartburn every time I eat a meal, but someone out there can’t even eat some of the foods I do without risk of dying. Life is beautiful and we need to appreciate all of the amazing things at our disposal. We need to make the best of every situation. (Stay positive.)

So when life is trying to bring you down, I like to think of the others that have it worse and make the most of what I’ve been given because that is how I stay hungry and fit! (Stay positive.)
