The Best Workout Headphones

If you’re here looking for answers, you might want to look elsewhere. Despite working out in the gym, every single day for the past 12 years, I still haven’t discovered the best ones. Some people don’t like training with music, but I struggle when I’m training without music. Sure, there are some activities that don’t mix well with wearing headphones, but for gym sessions (especially lifting weights) I benefit from the motivation and constant intensity boost that comes with good tunes!

Over the years, I’ve broken hundreds of dollars worth of headphones. Some have gotten crushed under the weight of a barbell or dumbbell. Some have fallen victim to being drenched in my sweat. Usually, I end up with one earbud that works and another that doesn’t. The most heartbreaking situation was with the only pair that still technically work. My mother bought me a pair of wireless Sony headphones. They worked via Bluetooth, when that technology was first released. They had a plugin that went into the older generation iPods. Unfortunately, Apple changes their devices all the time and the new jack didn’t match.

I still have those headphones. Even though the padding that covers the ears are falling apart, they still work with my oldest iPod, but that iPod is so old that I can’t even put new music on it. As a result of this endless effort, I’m asking all of you to tell me your favorite workout headphones. Then, I’m going to send this post to every company that makes workout headphones, to do the ultimate test. If you know my training sessions, you know that they are unmatched in intensity. If these headphones can make it through my training sessions without breaking, they can earn the name of The Best Workout Headphones… EVER!

Adaptability is another key criteria. The best headphones don’t necessarily need to be wired or wireless, but their ability to work with any device is key. That universal factor is very important. A reasonable price point is also something to consider, although it isn’t a must. Those Sony headphones were nearly $300 at the time. We’re all about paying for quality. Ease of use and longevity are crucial factors as well. The outreach to these companies starts soon, so make sure you list your suggestions in the comment section below because this project will help us all stay hungry and fit!
