As summer comes to a close, so do my summer fitness goals! It’s been an incredibly busy summer (including a move and other travel), but I’ve been working hard on my goals. Like the true procrastinator I am, I got 2 out of 5 done within two days of my deadline. But I’m super proud of what I’ve accomplished. I haven’t set real fitness goals for myself in a while and it was amazing to do again.
Why do goals matter? Whether you’re a newbie or fitness vet, goals are important! You need something to strive towards, something to keep you honest. It’ll stop you from getting bored or not knowing what to do: it gives you direction. I want to keep creating goals so hopefully you will see goals come up every season! They will probably all have different themes. Like summer’s goals, for example, were all body weight based.
Anyhow, enough talk, onto my results!
Summer Fitness Goals:
-Goal #1: 20 consecutive push-ups
-Result #1 >> SUCCESS
-Goal #2: 4 consecutive pull-ups
-Result #2 >> SUCCESS
-Goal #3: 4-minute wall sit
-Result #3 >> SUCCESS
-Goal #4: 4-minute plank
-Result #4 >> INCOMPLETE
-Goal #5: 4 consecutive handstand push-ups
-Result # >> SUCCESS
So, 4 out of 5–not bad for such a hectic period. The CEO of where I work says that if you succeed in all your goals, you didn’t set the bar high enough. I got 3:10 out of 4 minutes for my plank. This obviously shows me where I need to invest more time into: my core! This gives me great direction for the future goals and what I want to focus my time on. The core is the root of everything! Once I get stronger there, the rest of me will become stronger as well. Sounds like a win win to me. To summarize, I gave myself around 2.5 months to complete these goals. Overall, I’m pretty proud of myself. When I worked towards these goals, I pushed hard and put the time in. I got the calluses to prove it and the aching swollen legs too.
Like I said before, everyone needs goals–it’s amazing what they can do for you! Now I’m sitting wondering what to do next! In this new neighborhood, there’s lots of hiking opportunities, but also the chance to get more so into martial arts! Will I focus on strength? Will I focus on flexibility? Will I focus on endurance? The possibilities are endless! I’m excited to crush these, and I’m excited to continue to crush some new ones. As always, stay hungry and fit!
*Question of the Day: What goals have you set for yourself recently?
Wow congrats on hitting those goals!
