Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook (Stairs Workout)

Since we live over on the West side of Los Angeles near Culver City now, it changes our “natural habitat.” When we used to live in West Hollywood, I would do Runyon Canyon all the time. Now, our go-to weekend spot is Will Rogers. However, there’s a great workout spot in Culver City-ish called the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook (also known as the Culver City Stairs). It’s a huge piece of land, with multiple sports fields, a dog park, play structures, rock wall, overlook areas, a museum, and a big ass hill. I’ve been going there for that big ass hill. It’s an incredible workout and just a 12 minute drive from our apartment.

Meditation for Resilience

It’s no secret that life ain’t easy. It can get us down in all kinds of ways, life is creative in that manner. It’s easy to feel like there’s no way out and we’re stuck with whatever has been given to us. We can’t always sort the cards that life deals to us, but we can choose how we react to them. And that is what today’s meditation is all about–finding resilience in the face of adversity. What is resilience? According to google, there’s two definitions, both of which I believe apply to what I’m getting at:

  1. the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
  2. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity

Hungry & Fit Purchased By Media Giant

It’s with heavy hearts and loaded pockets that we are announcing some major news. Last night, we finally closed a deal with a European Union Media Mogul in his acquisition of the Hungry & Fit blog. Now, in full transparency, the agreement did not include the Hungry & Fit LLC company that we created and registered both federally and through the state of Colorado. It simply included the domain name (for this website) and all of the contents/publications on the site.

Personal Trainer Showcase

Anabolic Co reached out to us and wanted to feature Hungry in their Personal Trainer Showcase. They decided on a fun and fitting title for the piece, “Hear and Feel the Thunder When You Train with Chris Tucci.” If you’ve been one of my clients in the past, you know that sounds just right. There might be a little lightning too. They’re a fun company because they like to target trainers from all over the world, not just the United States. Therefore, if you check out some of their other trainer showcases, you might be able to find more sources for information and motivation.

The Benefits of Martial Arts

Hungry & Fit is all about finding a lifestyle that allows you to be happy and healthy. There are thousands of different forms of exercise that allow you to develop your body, mind, and spirit, but there are few that have done this for thousands of years. Martial arts can be tracked back to the most ancient civilizations and, as a result, they have been developed to a level where they provide growth in all three of those areas: body, mind, and spirit.

While there are now thousands of different martial arts that are being practiced throughout the world, many of them share similar ideas since many stem from the same tree. Our friends at Warrior Punch have put together an amazingly attractive and understandable infographic (you know we love smart art!) that will help you quickly and easily realize many of the benefits of practicing martial arts.

How to Clean A Barbell

We’re specifically addressing rust here. Say you’ve had a barbell outside for a while and it starts to rust–don’t throw it out! That would be wasteful and also hurt the bank! That’s why we want to show you how to clean a barbell, so you don’t feel like you have to toss it if it’s not looking the way you want it to. Not all barbells are created equal, so cleaning the inside after taking it apart can be a little different based on what you’re using. If you do, however, find your barbell starting to rust, here’s an easy and CHEAP way to take that rust off and make it look new again.
