The Perfect Breakfast

An egg on toast. It’s so beautiful, yet so simple. It has a certain elegance that is hard to explain, but it’s something nearly everyone can enjoy. Still, there are a few ways to treat it that make it even better… so here is a simple recipe for the dish below, which may very well be, your greatest breakfast discovery.

5 Kitchen Must-Haves!

We’ve been all about doing more with less this year because… less is more, right? Or is more, more? Oh well, you get the idea. Since we love cooking so much and we want to empower everyone else to feel comfortable in the kitchen, we’re giving you a less-is-more kitchen supply list. Here are 5 must-have items for your kitchen. If you have these, and nothing else, besides ingredients (and obviously forks, spoons, plates, etc.) then you’ll be able to make just about anything!

5 Desserts That You Have to Make Her

We’re still always so humbled when we see our material shared. Recently, we saw one of our favorite dessert recipes shared by a random woman and she tagged her husband on the post and wrote “…” after it. We can only imagine that she wants him to make that dessert for her. Now, if you know us well, you’ll know that Hungry does most of the cooking and Fit does most of the baking, and we think that might be the case in many other couples.

Association of Food Bloggers: Recipe Feature

Another blogger reached out to tell us how inspirational it was to see us continue to post well into our fifth year of blogging. (We started H&F in August 2012.) When we started as a personal blog, we had no idea where we’d end up, but we’ve probably excelled more in the Hungry part of Hungry & Fit. Sure, you might have seen Hungry’s personal trainer showcase for an international publication, but who knew people loved our cooking (or baking) more than our training?!?

Tatsu Ramen

So here I am, ready to deliver a three-star review to this ramen spot, Tatsu, when my partner-in-crime stops me and says… no. She demands I put five stars up so we settle for four and I’ll tell you why. She’s strictly judging the ramen, which is one of her favorites in LA. I’m judging the overall experience, which is always going to be lackluster on Sawtelle.

This place is PACKED to the point that it’s more than competitive with Tsujita. You get a lot more of the younger West LA crowd (middle/jr/high school) waiting outside here, so it’s hard to weave your way through even if it’s not your destination. This of course means wait times, so good luck dining in. I’ve only ever gotten take out and delivery. I give Tatsu credit for delivering the same product at their multiple locations. That consistency builds them a strong following because you know what to expect.
