LA Residents: Workout with Hungry into 2016!

Every year since 2013, the Westside Family YMCA (in the Sawtelle neighborhood of West Los Angeles) has had a three-month program to help individuals make it through the most challenging time of year for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The holidays present all kinds of travel issues such as staying at hotels, going out to eat a lot, huge meals with your family where saying no might be impolite, and just overall craziness. In this chaos, it’s hard to maintain balance, but we know that consistency is the key to success. Whether you’re trying to gain muscle mass, cut body fat, or just become stronger, you need to have a realistic and smart nutrition and exercise plan to accomplish these goals.

This is why, if you’re in the LA area, I am inviting you to participate in Get Lean for 2016. Now, truth be told, I don’t love the name, but it does have a certain charm to it. From November 1st through January 31st, you will have exclusive access to diverse workshops every Saturday in the time frame of 10-2 pm, depending on the week. These workshops could be workouts, seminars, lectures, or discussions. Without telling you too many details, since we love surprises, some of the presenters include fitness gurus, nutritionists, celebrity chefs, physical therapists, chiropractors, posture experts, and more

In addition to the Saturdays that were offered last year, we’ll also be having some Sunday and Wednesday workshops as well. While attending one or two sessions is justification alone for the price tag, I recommend trying to make it to as much as possible. Sunday workouts will include guided Runyon Canyon hikes (that progress in difficulty every month), beach workouts at Santa Monica Beach, and the stairs at Baldwin Hills. Hungry and Fit will personally be guiding the Runyon Canyon hikes and Santa Monica beach workouts! No matter what your level of fitness is right now, you will be able to benefit from what is being offered.

On top of all that, you receive a t-shirt for the event, discounts for personal training packages throughout the holidays, ongoing consultations and progress tracking, the chance to win prizes for each month’s mini-games, the chance to win our grand prizes at the end of the program, and attendance at our kickoff celebration and final ceremony, where refreshments will be served. More than anything else, you get that extra motivation and accountability while being surrounded by the most delicious food options of the year. That way, you can either say no for your cause or say yes and burn it off later!

If you’re in the LA area and interested in participating, register by calling 310-477-1511. You don’t have to be a member of the YMCA, but members do receive a discounted rate. In fact, if you’re a member of any LA Y, you receive that discounted rate. Early bird pricing is $30 for members and $50 for everyone else. Those prices end this Friday. Starting Saturday the prices will increase to $50/$80 so don’t hesitate and make an important decision to set yourself up for a strong start to 2016 so you can stay hungry and fit
