Manitoba Harvest’s Hemp Yeah! (Protein Bar Review)

Oh no, here it is. Another protein bar review. Do they ever end? Truth be told, it seems like there is a never-ending supply of ready-to-eat protein snacks out there. It is hard staying on top of them all, but for us, it is important to know what exists because we’re asked for recommendations ALL THE TIME! We rarely find a product that is worthy of being coined innovative in any stretch of the imagination. When we do find innovative products, they’re not necessarily win-wins. For example, our review of Built Bar gave them credit for making a product that had a very strange texture. While we weren’t fans of it, we figured someone out there might be. Innovative? In a way. Enjoyable? Not for us. Enough of that old news though; what about Manitoba Harvest’s Hemp Yeah bar?

Attractive packaging

The Bottom Line

Do you enjoy KIND bars more than your typical protein-packed bar that usually has an unnatural flavor and texture? If so, you will love Manitoba Harvest’s Hemp Yeah protein bars. At first, they were a little too earthy for my taste buds. Not quite a shot of wheat grass, but getting there. It makes sense with their natural ingredients such as: shelled hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, Fair Trade dark chocolate, toasted coconut, almonds, etc. There really aren’t many ingredients that are too hard to pronounce in their list. However, after eating half the box, the taste of their Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt bars really started to grow on me. I enjoyed the subtle nutty and saltiness paired with a feint dark chocolate. They were light.

Negatives?

There aren’t many. I haven’t visited their manufacturing plant, like I’ve done for other brands in this space, so I can’t say much for what happens behind the scenes. If this Canadian brand is honest, the ingredients and nutrition facts look really great. It is certainly a healthy snack filled with quality fiber and lots of micronutrients. The only issue, for myself, is that they don’t have enough protein. Each bar has 10g of protein. That is more than a normal KIND bar, but slightly less than KIND’s protein bar, which has about 12g. 10g is far less protein than most protein bars in the space. Also, while it doesn’t bother me, the name is a bit strange. They may have difficulty attracting new consumers, especially those who are hesitant of hemp products.

Who is this for?

Anyone really, but mostly for people who want a nice clean product that tastes good and doesn’t feel heavy in your stomach. I wouldn’t recommend it for the 220 lb bodybuilder who is trying to put on more weight, but it definitely fits most of the population’s needs. I’d recommend it more for healthy snacking than a calorically-heavy and protein dense bar, which could be considered a meal replacement. I was hesitant to try their protein powder, but after getting slightly addicted to these bars, I’m looking forward to it. You should look forward to that review!

Looks clean!

Where can you find them?

They’re available, at a very reasonable price, on their website HERE. They also have a tool on their website that allows you to search for local sellers, although you might get them quickest through Amazon or Walmart, because the search tool doesn’t show any local results for us. If you do find them, let us know what you think. Stay hungry and fit!
