March 14th aka 3/14 aka 3.14 aka Pi! There are so many new national days. National Pancake Day was earlier this week, although it feels as though we have a few of those every single year. Pi Day is one of those amazing “holidays” that you don’t get off work, but you still can celebrate by justifying the consumption of tons of pie. Pies are underrated and grossly under-appreciated. We typically, especially here in the United States, think of Apple Pie because it is All-American, but is apple pie even close to the best pie?
While most people prefer sweet pies and other dessert pies, we prefer savory pies. Meat pies or other Commonwealth meals are amongst some of our favorites. It is hard to beat a beef and Guinness stew sitting in a little pastry. Root vegetables really round them out nicely, with deliciously earthy flavor and a nice bit of texture. Still, there is one greater pie… the ultimate pie… THE PIZZA PIE!
Pizza is arguably the greatest food on the planet. Therefore, it is safely the best pie, and while there are plenty of places that serve sub-par pizza, there are tons that dish out delectability. Here are some of our favorite pizzas you can find in LA! From the incredibly rich and overindulgent dessert pie at Uvo in Culver City to the gyro pizza at Mega Pizza, you can actually find some of the tastiest pizza in the world in LA. Just remember, you won’t be able to find true NY style pizza here, although LaRocco’s might come the closest! Fortunately, for travelers, it is right by LAX!
Even though we might not be on board with all the made-up holidays that you see on social media, we certainly support the celebration of Pi Day. Whether it is a cheat meal for you or not, it definitely will make you feel better and staying stress free helps you be hungry and fit
