Thanksgiving is over and you’ve probably just stopped feeling full from what was surely a gluttonous night. Preparing for the madness and chaos between Christmas and New Year’s, we are all trying to stay in the best physical and mental state possible. After all, we need to hit some of our 2018 resolutions and prepare ourselves for 2019. Instead of just giving up entirely and letting yourself go, give December your absolute best effort. We already threw some tips out for Black Friday shopping, which are still somewhat useful now. Even if you missed out on all of the sales, focus your mind and be an absolute beast this last month of the year.
In order to keep your mind in the best possible place and minimize the stress that is associated with this time of year, we need to keep our bodies in great shape. We need to stay healthy and fight off colds or flus that notoriously wreck us at the worst time possible. (I remember having a 106 degree fever while recovering from Bells Palsy a few years ago, at our family Christmas celebration… it was the worst!) Regularly exercising and eating well will put you in a good place and set you up for success, but everyone can use some help. Fortunately for all of us, one of our absolute favorite companies in the health and wellness space just came out with some new products and after trying them for a few weeks, we have to share!
First, our absolute staple. Yes, you know that we take our vitamins, use pre-workout and have a protein shake every single day. My staple in the pantry has been Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey for quite some time, but I’ve made some shelf space for their new Gold Standard 100% Isolate. Besides a selection of delicious new flavors, such as Chocolate Bliss, (it isn’t too chocolatey) this product brings the right macros. A single serving, or one scoop weighs in at 31g protein, and contains 110 calories. (This is for Chocolate Bliss) That contains 25g of protein, 1g of carbs and 0.5g of fat. We’re not telling you to avoid fats or carbs, that is up to you; we’re giving you this resource to make sure you get enough protein! It also has a little calcium, iron and potassium, although we still recommend getting your daily doses via vitamins or other food sources. It does contain milk and soy, for anyone with allergen concerns.
I had this discussion the other day… actually, I have it every day. This is real protein. It is the same protein that you get from milk, but it has had fats, cholesterol, lactose and carbs filtered out of it… courtesy of Optimum Nutrition, or whoever they use to manufacture it. This is a protein supplement and not necessarily a meal-replacement, depending on your macronutrient and caloric goals, but adequate protein intake is crucial for our bodies; trust us on that. (It would be a LONG lecture otherwise.)
Second, a nice addition to our normal stack. Optimum Nutrition boosted the already solid AMINO Energy by adding electrolytes. For anyone who is too scared to use hardcore pre/intra or post workout supplements, I recommend this product. For anyone who is trying to get a boost of energy to make it through the day without a $4 drink from an expensive coffee stop, I recommend this product. For anyone who just doesn’t like the taste of coffee but needs the results mentioned above, I recommend this product. Well, I recommended the AMINO Energy but now with added electrolytes, your cells are going to work better together than ever and communication/cooperation is key this time of year!
Treat yourself or your loved ones to an early gift this holiday season by checking out these products! Also, if you’re still reading, comment what you really want from Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) below to be entered into a giveaway of one of these products! We have a Watermelon Splash AMINO Energy up for grabs, as well as your choice of vanilla/strawberry/birthday cake Gold Standard 100% Isolate!
As always, stay hungry and fit!

My Christmas dream is a great job and some stylish boots. I left my Red Wings in CA and they were somehow lost while I was in Japan :/
Oh and some protein 😉
