Whenever we move to a new place, it’s fun for us to explore new eateries around us. We have certainly not failed that mission, eating at all different kind of joints: Indian, Thai, American, English, and so forth. Settled in a West Hollywood strip mall with many other food choices, the Carving Board offers a variety of American plates; salads, soups, and sandwiches. I would say it specializes in sandwiches, but we’ve tried all the different types of fares. While it may be a little overpriced, the Carving Board is a regular stop for us.
The food is pretty darn good. I am personally in love with their Goat Cheese & Tomato Soup, especially with the cool-ish weather we’ve been getting lately. It has an incredible creaminess and a pure tomato flavor you can taste. Not to mention adding in the flavors of basil and goat cheese to make it a winner. Hungry is always going after different sandwiches; French dip, short rib, Thanksgiving dinner, and so on. They love to use great ingredients to produce a delicious meal. Plus, they serve everything on these neat carving boards (hence the name). Their lemonade here is also spot on (strawberry and regular). We love the way they dress their salads and keep their meat nice and tender (yay for not well-done!).
The price is fairly reasonable, but it’s not the best deal on the block. People can feed themselves for between $10-$15, so it’s not too bad. We usually feel as if it’s worth it, though portion sizes are on the smaller side. They aren’t tiny by any means, but it’s not a ton of food for your buck, which we’re okay with. We don’t mind laying an extra dollar for the depth of the flavors, the tenderness of the meat, and the comfort of the food.
The real reason we keep coming back is because of the atmosphere. The staff are absolutely wonderful with prompt service and a smile. The servers are easygoing and easy to talk to. Plus, and this is a big plus, they are DOG-FRIENDLY. Yep, Noke joins us every time we venture into the Carving Board and boy is she happy to do so. The staff love her and she loves the scraps she can find from the two of us. You know our animals mean a lot to us, so the fact that we can bring more of our family means a lot to us.
We obviously say good things about this place because it’s a great place to go with the whole family. It has a great atmosphere, great food, and it won’t break the bank. Hungry and Fit gives it a big thumbs up! There are plenty of healthy options to choose from, so you don’t necessarily have to shove down a lot of bad fats. There’s something for everyone here, so stop on by. Eat at the Carving Board to stay hungry and fit!
I want to come with you guys!
