Akira Toriyama has provided us with quite the roller coaster since we met Son Goku when the Dragonball manga was first released in 1984. Two animes based off the original 42 volumes, 19 feature films, countless video games, trading card games, the infamous GT, and the remake of Z known as Kai, have been the highs and lows of that thrill ride. While highlights such as the Frieza and Android saga offset the dips of GT and some questionable films, fans are here… over 20 years later, wanting more. 
Dragonball Xenoverse saw a newest gen release on consoles in February. Rebirth of F allowed for an April release of Resurrection of F in Japan. And now, with the DB timeline in all sorts of confusion for the casual viewer, a NEW SERIES is being released in less than a month.
Now, I’ve always preferred reading the manga first, or watching the anime in Japanese with English subs, to not only get the most authentic experience, but also to be exposed to it as soon as possible. No one can ever spoil anything for me because if I want something, I get it right away. Therefore, if you want to know what’s happening in this new story line, you need to watch it as it is released because we have no idea where this is going, right?
Not necessarily. And while we have yet to hear much about the content, we know that it will be set after earth was saved from Evil Buu by Goku, most likely after the last two films as well. Let’s remember that Goku’s next journey was ten years after the defeat of Buu, as the last episode of DBZ. There was a time skip there we should take into consideration.This story line could fit in between particular episodes that had long gaps, before GT, or could rewrite GT. It could be anything so we’ll have to wait and see. While I’m sure it won’t be the last of what we see, it will be a huge step forward. I won’t go deep into theory, but just wanted to stir the pot and get the conversation moving forward in anticipation of the storm about to come. What are you looking for in this series? Where do you want it to take place and what story do you want it to tell?
Finally, everyone has been questioning power levels lately and whether Super Saiyan God Goku could defeat Super Saiyan 4 Goku, or whether Beerus is stronger than Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. We can’t look too far into that based on what is and isn’t canon, but we can recognize what sensei stated in this article as Whis being the strongest character in the DB universe that we have seen thus far. There was also that note in Frieza’s family’s timeline that if two entities should not be fought, it is Beerus and Buu. Interesting as to what is still unknown in the universe and what these years will reveal.
