Show the “New You” Haters Who’s Boss

It’s the New Year! It’s the time where people set resolutions, realign their goals, and set out on this adventure of a life. Goals may be lofty, they may be lowly, but they are still made nonetheless. With the new year, comes a lot of “New You”s, but also alongside that, “New You” haters or shamers. There are those who publicly refuse to change themselves upon the New Year, which is fine, but they shouldn’t shame others when they chose to set new goals. Each and every person should be able to start the new year without any negativity and choose to set what path they desire.

So this is what I’m saying to you: make those goals, define your resolutions, and chase your dreams. Ignore the nay-sayers on Facebook or Twitter who mock the “New You” people. Maybe they haven’t had it as hard as you and don’t need a reset like you do. Maybe they’re publicly trying to act nonchalant to get some hipster points. Maybe they’re afraid of change. Maybe they’re afraid of their dreams. Maybe they’re afraid of working hard. Maybe they’re afraid of failing. All things to be scared of, certainly. But without challenge, without fear of failure, where are we? Where is our head at? Are we floating on a faded cloud of complacency?

I believe we all need a challenge before us. A dream so big it scares us. What’s the point of sitting in the corner of Facebook, arms crossed, profile pic cool, proclaiming that you won’t change this year while you mock the “New You” chasers? Sometimes, it is uncool to have big dreams and fitness goals. Who cares? Do what is right for you. So, write down those goals, puff up your chest, and be on your way towards your “New You” and show those haters who’s boss! Stay hungry and fit!
