We started this blog in August of 2012. It has been a real roller coaster ride ever since the beginning. I can’t remember the last time we went over a month without publishing an article. Sometimes, we don’t find the time to create our own work, but we maintain a steady stream of posts through partners and guests. That wasn’t the case this past month, but we’re glad to be back. Where did we go?

Why a Gym Should NOT Have Sales Staff!
Today, we released a lengthy video on YouTube, which you can watch HERE. In this video, we discussed why a gym doesn’t need a team dedicated to sales. We felt the same way before covid made a huge impact on the world, so please don’t think this was motivated simply from the economic changes in the past few months.
The Workout Videos You Shouldn’t Watch on Social Media
Last week, we released a new video on our YouTube channel. If you want, rather than reading this quick article, you can watch that video HERE. In the video, we talk about what trainers (and gyms) shouldn’t be showing on social media. Why?
Tomorrow on YouTube: Millennial Food Quiz
Recently, a Facebook friend shared the featured image on this post, which is a millennial food quiz. This friend lives in the New Orleans area and most of the people who commented on the post had relatively low scores, which I mention in tomorrow’s video. I can only imagine what the results for someone in Los Angeles or San Francisco would look like. My score wouldn’t have been nearly as high if we didn’t live in Hollywood for three years.
In tomorrow’s video, I go over the list one item at a time. I’ll also reveal if I know what it is, if I’ve eaten it, and where I’ve eaten it… if I remember. I know, this would’ve been a much better video if Alana and I recorded it together… maybe we’ll do a part two!
The 1,000,000th Reader
August 14th, 2012. The first blog post ever published on Hungry & Fit back when it was a wordpress.com site. Now, or rather for quite some time we’ve been wordpress.org; it was a requirement when we started to monetize the blog. As some of you may know, we thought of the blog on our cross-country trip from New York to Boulder, Colorado. We stopped in Mason City, Iowa for a week or so along the way. At the time, it was just the two of us, but the pack, or pride, has grown since then. Hungry & Fit has also grown.
How Technology Can Make Aging Easier
Technology has changed so much in the last fifty years that it can sometimes feel impossible to keep up. If you’ve ever wondered how your children or grandchildren navigate their phones with ease, then you may be wondering how technology could ever make your life easier, not harder. While there is a learning curve for some devices, there are lots of great resources out there for learning the technology that could make aging easier.
Most older adults know the importance of keeping up with technology—78% of Americans over the age of 65 have a cellphone. But just having the technology and knowing how to leverage it for a better life are two different things. Here are just a few ways you can use technology to make aging easier.
Our First YouTube Video Intro
Now that you’ve given us those 30 seconds of your life (thank you for that), we have to be the first to say that we’re not entirely happy with this intro for a few reasons. First of all, it isn’t anywhere near as inspiring or telling of what we do, as we’d like it to be. Second, and more importantly, it doesn’t highlight the both of us, but we really could only find footage of one of us!

New Exciting Projects for Hungry & Fit
When team Hungry & Fit officially started back in 2012, we had no idea what would happen. It could have failed after a month but we’ve stuck with it, thanks to our amazing followers. We’ve had our successes and failures, but we’ve kept pushing forward because we want to be good role models for all of you. Living a happy and healthy lifestyle, after all, is a challenge and you’re faced with endless forks in the road, dead ends, and other hazards.
Ellen DeGeneres Liked Our Pin
Did I get your attention? But here’s the best part: I DIDN’T MAKE IT UP. I even screenshotted it and everything, look below for yourself. And surprisingly enough, that isn’t the reason for this post. It came at quite a convenient time because we’ve been wanting to introduce our Pinterest to you. Now that you’re introduced, you should check us out, we’re obviously kind of a big deal (as per Ellen).
Besides celebrity appearances of our favorite comedians/icons, we pin lots of great stuff from our own recipes to hilarious geeky stuff that bleeds our nerdiness out to beautiful nature we’d love to adventure in. At first, I didn’t really get Pinterest, so I didn’t really use it. The more I used it, the more I fell in love with it. It’s not just useful for us to get our posts out on the Interweb, but so great to find other recipes that people all across the globe are sharing. It’s a fantastic, eye-candy database of endless information and knowledge.
I’ll just click on the ‘Geek’ tab and laugh constantly or click on ‘Food & Drink’ to have a drool session. It’s such a fabulous tool–people like visuals. They like images to pull themselves in. I’m so glad I started using it. But I have to watch out…it’s addicting! I am slowly adding all of our recipes, workouts, and other posts to our boards so stay tuned to stay hungry and fit!
