Universal Studios: What to Do and Not to Do

I challenged myself to write ten Yelp reviews a day… until I have no more reviews to write. The suggestions are based on your activity history and I’ve stumbled upon a time that I decided to check-in to everything that I went to at Universal one day. Well, it’s a lot of rides and food stands, etc. and it got me into thinking, why don’t we give some tips for Universal because… everything is good if you play your cards right. BUT it can be one tough day if you don’t make the right moves.

Here are some tips to make the most out of your visit.

How to Balance Exercise with Work

Having a full-time job (does that ever actually mean only 40 hours a week?) and getting the proper amount of exercise in your week often don’t quite match up. Most times, the job gets the better of you and you either don’t have enough time in the morning or you’re too exhausted after work to get one in. We’d much rather plomp down on the couch than find some shred of willpower to get our body moving. We partnered with Quill to bring you this helpful infographic which shows you how to get exercise even with a hectic work schedule. If you click on it, there’s also a great article about it on their website.

An egg on toast. It’s so beautiful, yet so simple. It has a certain elegance that is hard to explain, but it’s something nearly everyone can enjoy. Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook (Stairs Workout)

Since we live over on the West side of Los Angeles near Culver City now, it changes our “natural habitat.” When we used to live in West Hollywood, I would do Runyon Canyon all the time. Now, our go-to weekend spot is Will Rogers. However, there’s a great workout spot in Culver City-ish called the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook (also known as the Culver City Stairs). It’s a huge piece of land, with multiple sports fields, a dog park, play structures, rock wall, overlook areas, a museum, and a big ass hill. I’ve been going there for that big ass hill. It’s an incredible workout and just a 12 minute drive from our apartment.

3 Home Remedies to Help with Hearing Loss

As we grow older, we have to work to prevent certain things. These things can include working out to keep both our physique, as well as our insides, healthy, and this can include getting enough sleep at night to keep our brains healthy and alert. However, this includes hearing loss, or for some, going completely deaf. While most people think this happens as you grow into your senior years, that is false. Hearing loss happens for a number of reasons, and can happen at any age. There are ways at home to combat hearing loss, however. These home remedies are the best ways to ensure you keep your hearing, as well as keep your ears healthy.

Frostbeard Studio Candles: Coziness You Can Smell

My friends at work make fun of me all the time for my new-found love of candles. Well, maybe not that I just love candles, but my weird rules that I make up for using them. I like different candles for different seasons (usually just centered around Fall and Winter), but I also don’t put a candle away until it’s done–I must burn it all the way through! I had underestimated my winter candle’s length of burning time and I was two weeks late for my Spring candle I’ve been so excited about (weird, I know). I recently got into candles in the past year. I started out with normal candles you’d find at Marshall’s or whatnot, but I found a wealth of more fun-themed candles online. These include nerdy candles (duh, have you ever met me?!). I’ve found a particularly excellent collection over at Frostbeard Studio.

Meditation for Resilience

It’s no secret that life ain’t easy. It can get us down in all kinds of ways, life is creative in that manner. It’s easy to feel like there’s no way out and we’re stuck with whatever has been given to us. We can’t always sort the cards that life deals to us, but we can choose how we react to them. And that is what today’s meditation is all about–finding resilience in the face of adversity. What is resilience? According to google, there’s two definitions, both of which I believe apply to what I’m getting at:

  1. the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
  2. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity

SMS Headphones Review

Headphones are a very important part of first world society; they are a conduit to music which aids us in many different ways. They allow music to be personal which helps us workout, to be inspired, to focus, to express ourselves, to let loose. I would say that almost everyone in the first world owns their own pair of headphones whether it be earbuds, wireless around-the-head headphones, or old-school headphones–as technology as developed, so have different headphones. They play an important role in our life.

So what did Hungry get me for my last birthday? A pair of SICK Star Wars-themed headphones. The official brand is SMS Audio headphones, but I got the Rebel Alliance themed ones. Let’s start with the look: these just look cool with the orange and gray colors of the Rebel Alliance as well as the Rebel logo on each ear. The metal padded band that connects each ear is slick and doesn’t get in the way.
