Easy Peasy Banana Bread

Who doesn’t have old bananas in their pantry? I know we do at least once a month. We do not throw them out. Instead, we make banana bread! Banana bread is such a delicious thing that is not too unhealthy, but also easy as heck to whip up. It’s a great snack or treat any time of the year, but especially during the winter, there’s just something about that smell of it baking in the house.

This recipe is incredibly easy: just put everything together, whisk, and bake! I based this recipe off of Carrots ‘N’ Cake’s recipe–you should check her out, she’s a very fun healthy lifestyle blogger. Our favorite way to enjoy banana bread is taking a slice and toasting it in the toaster oven and then slathering butter on it. Mmm-mm! Let’s have fun making this banana bread!

Healthy Homemade Pizza

Sometimes, you just want an easy, delicious recipe that won’t take forever and put on the pounds. Something you can just whip up and throw onto the stove or into the oven. And what’s better than PIZZA on the weekend?! However, this isn’t just your Dominoes-esque pizza–this is on the healthier side! We are using whole-wheat flour here, better for your insulin intake, and more fiber. The recipe for this healthy homemade pizza is simple. It’s a riff on one of my other homemade pizza recipes. It’s simple, you don’t need any yeast, and it can be made in less than thirty minutes. All you need is flour and cheese (basically).

Easy Vegan Golden Milk

Ever since I saw Minimalist Baker’s Golden Milk recipe, I had a hankering to try it. It just looked so inviting and warm with my favorite aromas wafting into the air. It also had a touch of the exotic to it and maybe made me think I would gain some special powers from it. So obviously…I whipped up my own version of Golden Milk! It was magical. The smoothness from the almond milk combined with the rich coconut milk makes it feel like a luxurious drink from some sort of fantasy world. The “exotic” spices transport you and the heat provides the ultimate comfort. I don’t really experiment with beverage recipes (except for my sangria), but after this one, I think will do so more.

5 Desserts That You Have to Make Her

We’re still always so humbled when we see our material shared. Recently, we saw one of our favorite dessert recipes shared by a random woman and she tagged her husband on the post and wrote “…” after it. We can only imagine that she wants him to make that dessert for her. Now, if you know us well, you’ll know that Hungry does most of the cooking and Fit does most of the baking, and we think that might be the case in many other couples.

Association of Food Bloggers: Recipe Feature

Another blogger reached out to tell us how inspirational it was to see us continue to post well into our fifth year of blogging. (We started H&F in August 2012.) When we started as a personal blog, we had no idea where we’d end up, but we’ve probably excelled more in the Hungry part of Hungry & Fit. Sure, you might have seen Hungry’s personal trainer showcase for an international publication, but who knew people loved our cooking (or baking) more than our training?!?

Passion Fruit Pudding Cake

My boss has a big bounty of a garden and he generously brings in lots of different kinds of fruits. One of these fruits in which he brings surplus of is passion fruit! Passion fruit is such a treat because it’s not very common. The abundant amount of rain Southern California has received lately has helped more fruit, well, come to fruit. Passion fruit has a certain tropical flavor. It also absolutely looks like an alien fruit: it has a purple shell and inside, there are a bunch of green slime covered seeds. Sounds appetizing, right? Well, it’s actually super tasty and they’re only about 15 calories a pop!

My boss had brought in a large amount this time and I had quite a few sitting in my fridge. I didn’t want them to go bad, so I looked up passion fruit recipes and found this one. I altered it a little to have less sugar. A passion fruit pudding cake…full of moisture and flavor without being too sweet. Those who know me know that I’m not a huge cake fan, but this recipe is a cross between a pudding and a cake so I like it. It may look a little intimidating, but it’s quite simple to do. I’ve already baked it twice because it’s so delicious. It’s perfect for a guilt-free dessert because it’s so light, but also hits the spot because of its flavor and texture.

Doing Dessert at Home

We saw a really funny meme the other night. It showed someone’s meals logged throughout the day and the first 4-5 were all super healthy. The final one was a pint of ice cream and chocolate chips cookies and it’s sad, but true. We think that more people can relate to that than you might initially think, because it’s extremely hard to fight your sweet tooth the whole day.
